My goal is to analyze Common Core and Essential Standards for places where objectives connect with those of the ITES. To assist in using this blog at a later date to draw lesson plan objectives, I copied some sections of each document and put those sections in quotes. As a Media Specialist in an Elementary School, I reviewed the Mathematics Standards K-5 first looking for connections and then reviewed ELA standards K-5.
Section reviewed the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics for grade levels K-5. The Measurement and Data Domain had a cluster titled “Represent and interpret data” standards deal with reporting data. These connect with the Technology as a Tool objective at each grade level in the ITES. Choosing and using the tools for reporting data.

in Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening, and Language, the descriptions that follow are not standards themselves but instead offer a portrait of students who meet the standards set out in this document. One of the points of the portrait states,“They use technology and digital media strategically and capably.” This connects with Technology as a Tool, Research Process, and Safety and Ethical Issues at all levels K-5

As I write lessonplans and teach lesssons more connections will become apparent.
